Annual General Meeting 2008

This annual event took place on 30th June 2008 at the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel.  The Chairman, Mr Carm Cachia, read the Malta Section’s annual report. He said that this year the section managed to achieve a lot of things through extra efforts by the committee. These included:

• The 2 full day event about e-ID where a number of international speakers presented papers.  The conference was attended by over 180 participants
• Sponsorship to the University of Malta BScIT (hons) Final Year Exhibition 2008
• The 4-day Electronic Records Management Programme certification in collaboration with AIIM
• The 4-day ISEB Software Foundation Testing course
• Feedback to the Malta Government National ICT Strategy
• Continued participation of the committee for the Internet Gaming Standards at the Malta Standards Authority
• Approval of the Malta Institute of Computer Science to conduct the BCS Professional Examination courses
• Agile SCRUM Development evening event
• Working with the Government for the adoption of SFIA

The Chairman then mentioned that the Malta Section’s finances this year have been very healthy due to the surplus of income of the e-ID conference and the courses held.  He encouraged the new committee to continue working harder for further recognition with the Malta Government and also to set up a fund for boosting the BCS image locally.  The current committee will continue to stand and these include:

• Mr David Pace
• Mr Jan Grech
• Mr Jonathan Camilleri Bowman

Networking was then carried out over coffee and croissants and followed by an interesting presentation by Mr Brian Azzopardi (GFI) about IPOD Slurping. There was a reasonably good attendance for the talk.

 

Annual General Meeting 2007

The AGM for the BCS Malta Section took place on the 27th August 2007 at the Intercontinental Hotel, St Julians, Malta. The Chairman read the annual report and highlighted some of the events which happened that year.  This included:

• The participation in the committee of the Malta Standards Authority in compiling standards for the internet gaming business in Malta
• Sponsorship to the University of Malta BScIT (hons) Final Year Exhibition 2007
• Software Testing evening event
• Enterprise Application Integration evening event

The Annual Report and accounts were approved while the current standing committee decided to stay on for another year.  The committe members for 2007-2008 are:

• Mr Andrea Stellato
• Mr David Pace
• Mr Jan Grech
• Mr Jonathan Camilleri Bowman

After this a presentation was made by Carl E Weise about the Electronic Records Management.  This talk was also open for non-members and was well attended. Following this coffee and biscuits were served and networking continued between all attendants.
